✅ Make sure that the surface is thoroughly clean, use rubbing alcohol. Make sure your hands are clean and do your best to avoid touching the main face of the mug while coloring.

✅Also make sure there are no things made of flammable materials attached things to the cup or glass, so it doesn’t catch on fire!

✅ Once you are happy with your acrylic mug painting design, let it air dry for 24 hours before baking. This will ensure proper adhesion of the design to the surface.

✅ After it is fully dry, place your acrylic mug painting project into a cold oven.

✅ Turn the oven to 300˚F (180˚C).

✅ Set a timer for 2 hours.

✅ Once the time is up, turn off the oven.

✅ Let the mug cool down completely before removing.

The oils from your hands will prevent the markers from coating and sticking to the mug like they should. That’s why it’s necessary to clean the mug with an alcohol wipe before beginning.

Also, wash your hands before beginning! Try to avoid touching the outer part of the mug’s surface where you’ll be coloring and instead stick to only touching the handle, the very top and bottom of the mug, or the inside.

It is not recommended to be washed in the dishwasher.

I personally put a colored mug to the test on the top rack of my dishwasher several times and saw no change in color. I would imagine over a lot of dishwasher cycles, however, it would begin to fade, but from my experience occasional washes here and there won’t affect the color. To maintain the colors longest however it is recommended to hand wash.

The more important thing to be sure to avoid doing is using any kind of abrasive sponge on the mug as that will remove/scratch some of the coloring.

If you plan to use the dishwasher and don’t want to risk the colors on the mug fading over time, I recommend applying a gloss coat such as Modge Podge Dishwasher Safe Gloss

No, the color should only be placed on the outside of the mug.

No problem! Use a wet paper towel or part of the alcohol wipe to correct any coloring mistakes. For small areas using a wet Q-tip can act like an eraser.

Keep trying! Sometimes the paint takes awhile to start flowing properly. Keep shaking it and holding down the tip on a scrap piece of paper. Eventually the paint will start flowing.
